Where There is Life

As promised I am here with a picture of Little House Needleworks Where There is Life:) I actually finished this last year but have never decided on a way of finishing it. I was having a good look through the Focus on Finishing blog and found KarenV's tutorial for a tie-on pillow:) This was so easy to follow as Karen's instructions and pictures were brilliant. My finish is not brilliant but for a first attempt I am very happy. I think my pillow could have done with more stuffing and my ribbon could have done to have been thicker but living where I do it's impossible to find everything you need. We could do with a Boyes here as they have a brilliant selection of ribbons etc. Anyway without further ado here's my pillow:)

Helen asked if she could see the whole of the Christmas Mystery so far so I have just taken a photo the best I can as it's rather dull here again today! I am still very unsure about this one! I do quite like the snowflakes I've just done but as a whole the piece looks a bit "thrown together" if you see what I mean. Oh well:) It might get better but at least I am not the only one stitching this who is not really impressed! Part 8 isn't out as yet.

The weather has been awful again this week. I really feel for all the people who have been flooded, especially in Lincolnshire where some homes are flooded for the second time in a month. How much longer can this rain go on?

Thank you to everybody who drops by my blog. It means a lot to me to know there are people out there reading this and special thanks to all those who comment:) I love getting them.

Your Where there is Life piece looks lovely Sally - you have done a fab job.

As for the Mystery - I think I too would be disappointed with it so far....

Isn't the flooding awful? We've got rain *again* today - this is the worst summer I can remember!

You did a lovely job on your pillow, it's beautiful! I'm so glad you found my tutorial useful :)

Please would you post it on the finishing blog too, since you used one of the class tutorials? Email me if you need more information about how to do this, otherwise you can find out how from the blog.

Sally your pillow is lovely.

I was really liking your christmas mystery, but I can see now you have a full picture of it so far, how disappointed you would be.

Keep going on it though, the best is yet to come, I think.

It's just miserable here again today. Sunday and Tuesday were really nice and I got out doing things, but it would be so nice to sit in the garden and do nothing.

Hi Sally

Thanks for posting a pic of the whole mystery, I like those snowflakes. Just wondering if you'd do another mystery? You know my views. LOL

Love your cushion too.

I like your Christmas Mystery, I think it's lovely. I do hope you start enjoying it again.....

It's absolutely peeing down here at the mo.....and the sky is grey, it looks much like a winters day.
I really hope this wether picks up, it's making people ill!

Hope you are keeping well, I'm still considering Charley, think I might be taking him for the weekend to see how my to react so we'll see on sunday whether he stays or not.
Huggles and happy stitching.....

Wow your pillow is stunning Sally, well done.

Glad you posted a big pic of Mystery. I love the idea of it think it is just the picture in the centre Im not keen on and when it is all done it might look fine (fingers crossed lol).

I have often looked with envy as people reveal these lovely mysteries but have never taken part as I always feared I would end up with something I didnt like. It must be heartbreaking.

the mystery is different its such a shame taht so many are not enjoying it, the pillow is great

You have done a very nice job on your pillow. I was also going to use that tutorial for my Queen of the Needle pillow but decided the piece was too long to tie on and if I put two places for ribbons I would have to be a genius measuring the pillow ribbons to the cross stitch piece ribbons so I didn't use that method, I went with the quilting method.(I wish I had made my quilting margins larger on it though).

I recently discovered that the Amazon Rain Forest gets 6 feet of rain per year! Where I live (the city of Phoenix in Arizona) we got a little over 8 inches the whole of 2006 and only a little over 3 inches this year so far (living in the desert), I wonder if England is going to have a new record this year or is that much rain normal?

I'm sorry the Christmas Mystery is such a dissapointment... Hopefully, the rest of it will be more appealing!

Congrats on your lovely HEAD finish! Summer ACEO is gorgeous and such a wonderful accomplishment! I love your needlebooks! They are both lovely, Hun! And I love your Just Nan WIP... the colours are gorgeous and the yellow fabric you are using is perfect!

The pillow is gorgeous, Sally! And, I like the Christmas Mystery--it has kind of an old-fashioned Christmas look. I hope you like it better as time goes on.

What a grand job you have made of your tie-on pillow with Karens tutorial instructions :)
We have more rain again today and it is so chilly for summer, we don't get floods in my area but it is so awful for the people who are suffering from them. Maybe August will be better for us all, here's hoping!!

I love your pillow Sally, what a great finish for Where There is Life. I hadn't given a lot of thought to how I was going to finish mine but think it will definitely be a pillow now too! :o)

Can't seem to make my mind up about the Christmas Mystery. I love the colours and the snowflakes look very pretty.

Love your other recent finishes too Sally. Summer ACEO is gorgeous! :o)

Love the pillow Sally! Thanks for the finishing link. I will add it to my favourites. Maybe I can learn a new technique lol. Your mystery looks very intricate and I am sure it will be lovely when it is finished. It's hard to not see how the finished result is going to turn out. xx

What a beautiful pillow. And Christmas Mystery is just gorgeous! I don't think it looks thrown together. The colours are gorgeous and, well, it's just beautiful.

I think your pillow turned out lovely, and good going to be brave enough to try something new. Finishing really intimidates me, as I'm not much at sewing and I'm so scared I'll ruin a piece that I just spent such time on stitching.

It would really be nice to be able to see how the finished mystery looks. The bits and pieces so far aren't bad, but it really doesn't fit together yet. Hopefully the remaining parts fill it in and tie the sections together.
