PIF for Elisa

At long last I have finally stitched Elisa's PIF. She has had the longest wait and I really must apologise to her as I had planned to get them all done much sooner than I did but at least I did them within the 365 days!!!! Anyway I know that Elisa really liked the SB Friendship Roll I stitched for Andrea so I decided to stitch it for her also. The fabby I used is slightly lighter but I think it looks just as good.Shepherd's Bush Friendship Roll

PIF for Elisa.

I have been doing other stitching too so I do have some progress to show:) First up is Beatrix. Now I am spurred on by the fact that I am so close to finishing this as once I finish the motif I am working on I only have four more and two of those are small. My plan to finish this by the end of the year actually looks as though it's going to work! I have done a little more since this piccie.

Also coming along nicely is Lizzie*Kate Merry Christmas By The Letter. Still hoping for a finish in time for Christmas but not sure I will get it done as I have a few things I need to do.

Lastly, and I do hope you're not getting fed-up of this, is HAED Guardian. I am about halfway down my 6th page now and just wish I could get more done on this. I think next year I am going to have to concentrate on it a lot more or it'll never get finished in a million years!

That's all my stitchy news. Hubby and I are Christmas shopping this next week so it's possible there may not be much stitching going on! I have to say that although I love Christmas Day the build up in recent years just gets me down and I wish I had a magic wand to make it all happen! Lol!

Finally a huge thank you to everyone who wished Abi a Happy Birthday. She has read all the comments and says thank you and sends hugs to everyone of you:)

Sorry this is short but I don't have much to say right now!

Take care everyone!

Another Roll Done!

I really must apologise again for my lack of blogging, both reading them and writing my own. I just did not seem to have enough to post as my stitching seemed almost non-existant following some frogging after the most silly mistakes ( I think my mind has been elsewhere and not completely on my stitching!) and feeling so damned stupid for making such silly mistakes! So I now have enough stitching to show and I caught on blog reading yesterday and did some commenting.

Friday afternoon Chris came over for a visit and it was so good to see her. We haven't seen each other for ages and I must admit I have been rather lax of late at emailing her ( please fo
rgive me Chris). We spent the afternoon catching up with a cuppa, showing each other our stitching and trading some SB roll charts. Thanks for a lovely afternoon Chris and I hope we get together again real soon. Looking forward to starting our SAL on 1st December:)

So F
riday evening, seen as Thanksgiving is coming up in the USA, I decided to start the Thanksgiving Roll which Chris had given me. I had it just about finished by the time I stopped stitching Friday evening and I finished it off and made it up yesterday:) Not bad going for someone who was beginning to think her mojo was going!

Shepherd's Bush Thanksgiving Roll

32 count ivory fabric

DMC and Carrie's Creations

A while ago you may remember I finished HAED TT Purple Dragon. Well she's been patiently waiting to be made up for a while and I'd got as far as lacing her onto card to make a pinkeep, chosen some ribbon and put one pin in! So after I'd finished the roll yesterday I thought it was time to finish pinning the ribbon on so here she is all finished up:) I used two ribbons and twisted them, first time I've ever tried this and I really like it:)

Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler is coming along quite nicely but the more I look at it the more I think I won't get it finished this year, which is my goal. I was very put off picking it up again last Monday as I'd had to unpick the motif I was stitching last time I showed you my progress as I'd made a mistake but I will try and get back to it tomorrow.

HAED Guardian is going well :) I have finished my 5th page and started the next. My plan was to do more of the angel but I decided I might just get mixed up and make a mistake so I'm carrying on across the top. Only the page I'm working on and a tiny bit on the next page and I'll be across the top:)

Finally my last WIP is Lizzie*Kate Merry Christmas By The Letter. Again this piece was spoiled by a visit from the frog ( really need my brain back in full working order but it seems to wander when I really don't want it to!) and I ended up having to rip out the C and so much of the H but it's all stitched back up now and I have more done:)

That's all my stitchy progress:) After our SAL last December Chris and I decided there and then to do another this December and we decided on Blue Ribbon Designs Peppermint Twist which I am really looking forward to. At the moment I'm unsure whether to stitch the picture or the stitching smalls set but as I have lots of my walls already I may go with the stitching smalls!

Hope everyone is well and having a lovely weekend. It's rather chilly here on the east coast of England. This morning we had thunder, rain, hailstones and sunshine!

Take care everyone:)

Ready For An Update?!

Guess what?! Yep I'm here with another blog post! I have been getting around to blogging since Thursday so I've given myself a good talking to to just get on with it! Lol! Plus I'm feeling much more like my old self so, hopefully, my posts may be more frequent:)

So what I have been up to stitchy wise? Well first off I've started and finished my She
pherd's Bush roll for October. Yes I know my last two month's worth did not get finished until the following month and here I am with October's finished in, well, October! So without further ado here's the final kit in my stash ( now onto charts).
Shepherd's Bush St Nicholas Roll kit

Started 4th October 2009

Finished 9th October 2009

I made several mistakes on this one and spent time frogging but I love it!

Next up is a wee finish for hubby's auntie. Those of you who have read my blog from the beginning may remember that I started stitching her a card for her birthday several years ago and she has become so used to it that if I didn't stitch one she's be very disappointed! This year I was a little late starting one so had to find something quick and came across this freebie from Praiseworthy Stitches in my stash and thought it would be ideal for an October birthday.

Started and finished 11th October 2009.

Made into a card for Auntie Joan

Monday evening was Bea evening and I managed to start another motif but not finish it! It's progress though and I really want to get this finished before the end of the year so please spur me on! I have plans for a couple of new starts 1st January next year! Lol!
Next up is a little bit of progress on Lizzie*Kate Merry Christmas By The Letter. This is such a fun stitch and, of course, I'd like to finish this in time for Christmas and make it into a bell pull but it's coming a little bit faster than I want it to!

HAED Guardian is coming along quite nicely and I have almost finished another page! How I wish I could get more done on this but, even so, I must admit that I am quite happy with it:) I am hoping my 5th page will get finished this next week and then it'll be just 25 more to go!

So that's all my stitching finishes and progress for this post:) Hope you have enjoyed looking at them:)

Now I am sure you are itching to know about my planned new starts for the New Year! OK so anything could happen between now and 1st Jan but................. the girls on Stitch and Stash were spurred on to do a Just Nan SAL after
Julie posted her progress on my fave Just Nan piece
Lady Scarlett's Journey. They have decided to start this in January and I am going to join in. I haven't decided what with yet but it'll either be 4 Wishes or Memories as I have both of these in my stash. Will have to see if I have everything I need for them before I decide:) Also after I mentioned that I'd dyed some fabby for CHS Shores of Hawk Run Hollow ( have you seen the Christmas one by the way??? Gorgeous but too expensive for me- I got Shores on sale) Deb and Jane mentioned a SAL and as I love stitching along with others so we can spur each other on I said yes! Of course I need to get Blue Ribbon Designs Winter Wingding finished but it seems to have become a UFO:(

While I remember
I've reduced everything in my for sale blog ( link in my side bar) so please have a look and see if there's anything you're interested in:) Thank you:)

I almost forgot I have finally got Little House Needleworks Hen party made into a pinkeep! It's nothing fancy as I haven't been able to find anything nice to finish it with. By that I mean something like the berries that were on the top of the finish on the chart.

Poor Abi has been in the wars of late firstly with a gammy toe caused by a new nail growing, followed by a stye under her eyelid:( We are hoping both have cleared up now but her eye looks as though as though it's swelling up again so I hope it's not another stye coming.

As for Jess she has settled well, is enjoying her course and just generally loving university life:) She had a visit from one of her friends last Sunday and another friend is visiting tomorrow. She has also made new friends on her course which she is happy about as she had no chemistry friends within her block at the halls of residence although she gets on really well with them all in there:) At the moment she is suffering from Fresher's Flu which most of the others had in the first couple of weeks and were jealous of her because she only had a sore throat! Lol!

That's all from me for today. Thank you for all your continued visits and comments. I appreciate each and every one of them:) I have got back into blog reading and commenting at long last and hope to keep up with it now.

Take care everyone.

A Couple Of Finishes

Well I know it's been a while again and I am really sorry. I feel awful neglecting all my blogging and stitching friends. I've hardly been on a stitchy forum for months and I haven't read anyone's blog for ages and I apologise to everyone for that. I will get back into it soon I hope. I just seem to have lost my enthusiasm although I have been stitching a little and have a couple of finishes to show you.

The first one you have seen before but not in the actual made-up form. I must say th
at this took some making up! The times I had to unpick the lining as I hadn't got it quite right was ridiculous and I even threw it across the table because I could not get it to go right! Anyway here it is all finished up; I'm not 100% happy with it but for a first attempt it's not too bad I guess:)

The Sampler Girl

In The Garden With Jane Austen Stitching Bag

From The Gift of Stitching May 2008

And my other finish is a needleroll ( surprise surprise!). I love stitching these as they are so quick and easy although the medallion stitches took some getting used to and I know the first two or three are not quite right.

Shepherd's Bush Snow Fall Roll Kit.

And here's my progress on Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler. I'm enjoying this again although I didn't stitch it on it this Monday.

That's all the stitching I have to show for now. Yes a measely little bit but better than non at all I guess. I'm currently working on another SB roll kit and that one is St Nicholas Roll which I have unpicked more times than I care to think about. I don't seem to be concentrating too well these days! Plus I have the urge for some Christmas ornament stitching after receiving the JCS Ornament issue from Down Sunshine Lane. Some gorgeous ornaments in there yet again:)

Jess has settled incredibly well in her halls of residence and she started her course on Monday. So far it seems to going well:) I have to admit we had our doubts that she would actually go as she was so nervous she was actually being sick. When we left her I managed to hold it together until we got back to the car. I cried on and off all the way home and when we got home and many times after that. I know people have said well she's not that far away but she's still away and not being able to see her, hug her etc really hurt. Poor Abi was heartbroken and sobbed so much. But we are steadily getting used to her not being here and she's made many new friends. She was very lucky as the halls have been refurbished so her room is all new and shiny:)

So that's all for this post. Not very interesting I'm afraid but I'll get there one day.

Take care everyone.

Here I Am!

Yes I'm back! I decided to do a blog post after lunch today then go off and do a bit of stitching! I know I've been away longer than I intended. It was only supposed to be a couple of weeks while hubby was off on holiday but I'm afraid I just lost my enthusiasm and have had a hard time getting it back. The fact that I spend quite a lot of time Facebook has nothing to do with it as I was blogging before and on Facebook; it's just the way I've been feeling. Just me and nothing else:(

So while I've been away I've had three finishes. First of all I fnished HAED Tiny Treasures Purple Dragon. In a way I was sad to see her finished as I'd enjoyed stitching her so much and she is so pretty.

Heaven and Earth Designs TT Purple Dragon

Artwork by Jasmine Becket-Griffith

Started 20th May 2009

Finished 17th August 2009

11,016 stitches.

I think I'll be making her up into a hanging pinkeep rather than getting her framed but I'm not 100% sure yet.

My next finish was The Sampler Girl In The Garden With Jane Austen from the May 2008 of The Gift of Stitching. As you can see I took this picture before I made it up into a bag but I haven't taken another yet as I still need to get some ribbon to finish it off properly. I love this piece although my making up leaves a lot to be desired! I found doing the lining of the bag rather fiddly and had to have several goes at it!
The Sampler Girl In the Garden With Jane Austen

Started 4th July 2009

Finished 28th August 2009.

My final finish for this post is my SB needleroll for August which didn't get finished until this month! lol! I chose to stitch Friendship Roll as a PIF for Andrea. I just love the sentiment of this roll.

Shepherds Bush Friendship Roll Kit

Started 28th August 2009

Finished 8th September 2009.

Stitched for Andrea.

So it's now onto the other bits I've been stitching. Since I finished TT Purple Dragon I decided to concentrate solely on HAED Guardian for a while and although it's been a bit slow going due to me also not wanting to stitch quite as much in recent weeks I have finished another page so 4 down and 26 to go!
I have got back to stitching once a week on Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler too and have actually been enjoying it as well! it's amazing what a little break can do! I'm now all the way across at the bottom and working my way up.

Unfortunately I haven't picked up Winter Wingdings in weeks and I really should get back into it. Instead I've been stitching on Lizzie*Kate Merry Christmas By The Letter. I seem to have been spurred on with this piece since we got into September. That's all the stitching I've done in the past few weeks.

Other news is that Jess got into university and goes a week tomorrow. We are so proud of her but it's going to be hard to adjust to her not being here. I know she's only going to Hull so is not too far away and will be able to come home weekends when she wants to. She's very lucky too as two of her friends are also going and their rooms are either next door but one to each other or next door depending on the layout! And of course Abi is back at school and is now in year 10. Poor Abi is not really keen on school but she studies and works hard. She's really pleased as she put down for dual science but school put her in for triple science.

I think that's all my news for now. I think I'm going to change the way I blog so will probably only blog once a week. I will see how I feel:)

Take care everyone:)

It's Julie's Birthday!

Today is Julie's birthday- Happy Birthday Julie!- so I can show what I stitched for her:) I wasn't sure what to stitch and I had several designs in mind before I eventually chose this one. It's a really sweet little design to stitch:)

Earlier this week I decided to try Vonna's tutorial for basting and baking fabric. As I'm trying to use some of the fabric I have but didn't have the colour in the count I wanted I thought it was a good thing to do:) I am quite happy with the outcome. The smaller piece you see in the picture is a lighter colour as that is for Blackbird Designs Their Song and the larger piece I wanted a bit darker as that is for Carriage House Samplings Shores of Hawk Run Hollow. What do you think? Thank you Vonna for your tutorial. It is brilliant:)
Now onto my other stitching- all WIPS that I have to show for now:) First up is my little bit of progress on Blue Ribbon Designs Winter Wingding. This is so much fun to stitch and is coming along quite well.

Monday I decided to pick up Bea as it was my last chance before the end of July so that I could get a piccie on the BP blog. Since I started stitching this just a couple times a month I've started enjoying it more but I had to frog a little bit but, thankfully, it wasn't too much.

Oh I very nearly forgot to show my progress on HAED TT Purple Dragon from last week! So here she is. I didn't manage to stitch on this last night but I will tonight if I can get off Facebook! LOL!

I've also started my SB roll for this month which is English Christmas and I hope to have it finished for the end of the month:)

Not quite sure where the summer has gone to. We were woken early this morning by a storm then we had another one around 11am. The wind was really strong, the rain torrential and the thunder very loud!!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week:) Take care.

Christmas in July and a Gift for a Friend!

I received some new stash from Amy at Down Sunshine Lane on Monday. As soon as I saw the new Lizzie*Kate Christmas Double Flips Merry Christmas By The Letter I just had to go on auto for them and also the new Country Cottage Needleworks/ Crescent Colours thread packs Winter Wonderland.
Last week , not shown in the picture, I finally received Midsummer Night Designs Remember Me Stitching Pocket. I ordered this about 6 weeks ago from a UK site but they had to order it in, which I expected seen as it was new out. About 4 weeks later I received an email saying it was in stock and they'd sent it out. Imagine my disappointment when I opened it and the wrong chart! So I emailed them and they were very apologetic and said either they'd ordered the wrong chart or Hoffman had sent them the wrong one. As luck would have it they were due to have an order dispatched from another place that day so they'd emailed them to put the chart on that. I have to say it's the first time I've had a problem with this place.

Of course I really want to start them all but for now I started Merry Christmas By The Letter. There is no hope for me and my startitis at the moment but life is too short and stitching gives me so much pleasure. As always I seem to have a bit of a conflict with white-ish shades! The conversion on the chart suggests DMC 712 but I decided it wouldn't show up on my flax linen so I'm using DMC 3865. I think it'll be fine when it's used in big areas so I'll keep on and see how it goes. This is how far I got after an hour or so yesterday afternoon. I may pick it up again this afternoon depending on what else I have to do!
Here's more progress on The Sampler Girl In The Garden With Jane Austen which I am loving so much:) It's such a joy to stitch and I can see me stitching more of Tanya's designs.

I can now show one of my recent finishes. Today is Karan's birthday and I decided to stitch her a little something. This was quick to stitch and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and how I made it up. The fabric it is on is the one I backed it with. Hope you like it, Karan, and hope you're having a fantastic day!

If you are still with me here's my progress from Sunday evening on Blue Ribbon Designs Winter Wingding. This is stitching up quite quickly really and I think I may have finally found a solution to the white problem! Thank you to everyone who made suggestions. I decided to try the metallic option and found some Rainbow Gallery in my stash so I tried that. What do you think?

This week on Monday Bea came out to play. I didn't get too much done but every stitch is one less to do next time:) When I was looking at the chart this time I realised that I am over half way there!
I think that's all my WIPs for now. Tonight I'll be stitching on HAED TT Purple Dragon and hoping to get page one finished. Not sure when I'll pick the SK up but Lisa seemed to think it was the SAL for it this weekend so I will have to look on the forum and see if I can find out.

Tomorrow night is the year 9 celebration evening which we're really looking forward to. Abi is so excited to find out which award she has got! DH was supposed to be working late but he's managed to get it changed so he'll be home in time to go.

That's it from me today. I may be back Friday to show another gift and let you know how it went for Abi!

Take care everyone. Thank you for continuing to visit me and for all your lovely comments.

Another Roll!

I finally made a start on my Shepherd's Bush Roll for June for my SAL with Chris:) This month I chose Thisbe's Roll which a beautiful design. All gorgeous pastel shades. I had the kit for this so it's all as kitted:)
Shepherd's Bush Thisbe's Roll

Started 16th June 2009

Finished 23rd June 2009.

Not a deal of other stitching to show this time I'm afraid. I've stitched a little something but I won't show it yet as I'm not sure if the recipient reads my blog so best not to! My HAED TT Purple Dragon was coming along nicely but now I think I may have to rethink my sub for the metallic in her face. I subbed it with DMC 3865 but now I look at it it's too white so I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do. I will have to have a look at light flesh tones and see what I can use instead. Does anyone have any suggestions please? There is already 754, 758, 3713, 3770 in her face.
Finally Bea came out again on Monday evening and I'm enjoying it again. I think stitching it two evenings a month rather than trying to stitch it every Monday each month is working better and I'm not getting fed-up of it so I will stick with doing it this way.

I was going to take part in the week long Fairy Day SAL on the HAED forum with Guardian but it doesn't include angels and as he's an angel he's out! So I'm not going to take part now and will get on with stitching other things and bring him out on Monday:)

Jess finished 6th form last Thursday! Those two years have gone so fast. It hardly seems like 5 minutes since she started. Now we have the long wait until 20th August to find out her A level results and see if she's got into the university of her choice.

Abi got her academic review from school yesterday and DH and I are so proud of her. She's doing really well in all subjects and has attained 6s and 7s in her teachers assessments. She has also been nominated for an award by her teachers so we've been invited to the year 9 celebration evening next month. She's amazed that she's nominated.

That's all for today. Hope everyone is well and having a good week.

Take care

Stitching Up A Storm ( Sort Of!)

It's been a few days of stitching lots on my HAEDs:) Friday through Monday was UFO/ SWIP SAL on the HAED forum so I decided to take part with HAED Guardian which really needed a good kick start. As it was I only really stitched on it properly on Friday and Saturday with a few stitches added Sunday and Monday afternoons. I am very happy to report that I have almost finished another page making 3 in all but I still have to finish of stitching over the metallic on page 7 with DMC.

Last Wednesday and Thursday were my SAL days with Lisa and Claire and the ladies at the Our Friends HAED SAL so out came the very lovely TT Purple Dragon and good progress was made again:) I am enjoying this piece so much.
A bit of progress next on Blue Ribbon Designs Winter Wingding although I'm going to have to rethink the snowflakes as they don't show up on this fabric. I may have to try DMC 3865 or something like that. I don't think you can see it but I have stitched a snowflake. Any suggestions???

Last night I decided I needed to get Bea out or she's going to turn into a UFO. To my amazement I actually enjoyed stitching on her and when DH went to bed at 10pm ( he was up early this morning) I decided to stay up and stitch a bit more. I usually go to bed at the same time as he does as I'm not keen on sitting on my own when everyone has gone to bed but he's had lots of early mornings of late so early nights and it cuts into my stitching time! LOL!

Finally a little progress on Just Nan When Barnabee Met Bella biscornu. This one will be coming out this evening so I hope to get a lot more done.
Next weekend, as far as I know, is the start of the HAED Storykeep SAL so I'll be taking part in that. In think I will only stitch Friday and Saturday on it. We had two free charts to choose from and I chose Moon Fantasy. My threads are sorted and my fabby is ready and I'm patiently waiting for the first page to come out:)

So that's all my stitchy news for now. I've been a bit naughty and pre-ordered the new Lizzie*Kate Christmas double flip-it's from Down Sunshine Lane. I couldn't resist as they are g
orgeous.

I'll leave you with these pictures taken by DH on Sunday:) This little fella is a regular visitor in our garden. We don't know if he's been got at by a cat or if another bird did it bu
t he's lost a lot of feathers and it looks quite raw on his back. He's happy enough though and spends ages hopping round the garden and sitting on the patio wall singing. Here is is but what is he looking at?

Yep he was looking at this and decided to have a drink! Excuse the green but no sooner do we clean it off it comes back. We do have a bird bath but he ( and a few sparrows!) seem to prefer the waterfall!

The hole in the front garden is now filled, the path has been concreted and the slate put back as it was thankfully! They did make a good job of making everything right.

Take care everyone.

New Start and A UFO Appears!

Wow it's over a week since I last blogged. I haven't had much to show plus I have to admit a new addiction. Two words. Facebook! Hatchlings! I am addicted to trying to find the limited edition eggs! Not good! Eats into stitching and blogging time. Plus PC does not want to behave! Virus scan shows nothing. Windows Onecare clears stuff out and sorts out the registry but still no better. I've come to the conclusion that PC is getting tired but we've just had a new UPVC back door fitted so not enough pennies for a new PC yet! So I'll just have to carry on cursing it!

Anyway thank you so much to all of you who commented on my finishes last week:) QS Girly Gothic is at the framers and I think DT My Favourite Things will get framed next month! I've never had 48 comments before so I'm really pleased:)

So seen as GG is finished I had a new
HAED start last Wednesday. I decided to be totally selfish and start one for me seen as the last two have been for Jess and Abi:) I decided on Tiny Treasures Purple Dragon and as the HAED monthly SAL this month was for TTs, QS and SKs not only did I stitch on her Wednesday and Thursday I also stitched on Friday though Monday for the SAL. So this is where I'm at now. I love this. The colours are so pretty.
Unfortunately I haven't made as much progress as I'd have liked on Bea this month but every little stitch is one less to do so I'm quite happy. I must admit I've lost my enthusiasm on this piece and although I will finish it it may take me a lot longer than a year! I do have the Needleprint Companion to Beatrix Potter Sampler chart but there's no way I would stitch it now so that is up for sale.

I have been picking up Just Nan When Barnabee Met Bella biscornu now and again and have almost got one side stitched. Just a little bit of backstitch to add and it'll be done.

I've definitely failed again on the Christmas ornament for this month ( as I did last month) so I may give up on that. I have started my needleroll and hope to have it finished for the end of the month. This time I chose Garden Roll which is stitching up quite quickly. I stitched this while watching Holby City and CSI last night.
Finally do you remember this rather nice chappy??? I don't remember the last time I stitched on him but I do know that all the metallic put me off so I'm stitching over all that with DMC 3865 and will continue to use that instead. I've also added a few stitches to page two which is what I was stitching on when it got put away. I'm going to rethink my rotation a bit so that I get more stitched on this.
HAED had a sale for Memorial Day and I decided a treat was in order for finishing HAED QS Girly Gothic. I wasn't planning on buying another HAED but I couldn't make up my mind what to buy from my wish list then HAED released Cico Marchetti's Spirit of Winter. I thought about it for a couple of days as it's another biggie but I just love it and know I will stitch it one day. My DH saw it and said get it ( what?????!!!!!!!!!!) so I did! I also got QS Season of Missing You ( Ching- Chou Kuik) as my free chart for the HAED Reward Program for finishing GG.

I think that's all my news for now. The girls are on half term at the moment. We're just having a quiet week as Jess has revising to do as she starts her exams on Monday. She finishes on 18th June. I can't believe my eldest baby is leaving school! She did have time off from revising yesterday to go see Angels and Demons with some friends. I've read the book but can't quite remember what happens but I seem to think they've changed things for the film. Abi went to her friend's yesterday and her friend is here today:)

I am steadily working my way through your blogs. Love seeing what you're all stitching. Only problem is my wish list gets longer! LOL! I am going to have to sort through my stash and be quite brutal I think!

Take care everyone.

Hugs
