Stylish Blogger Award

Before I forget totally I thought I better do this blog post. I have been awarded the Stylish Blogger Award by three lovely ladies, Rebecca, Elisa and Cath. Thank you so much. I am honoured to receive it.

Now the rules are:

2) List seven things about yourself , and

3) Pass it on to fifteen other blogs .

I'm struggling with the 7 things which I always do when I have to these things and I nearly always end up repeating myself!

1. When I was pregnant with my eldest daughter for the first three months I had horrendous nausea and just about the only thing I could eat were cheesy puffs. Now I can't stand them!

2. I hate the way I look and when I look in the mirror I see an old ugly person.

3. I have struggled with my confidence levels for many years but lately it has got rather bad so going to craft club and applying for a job have been huge moves for me.

4. I used to spend my spare time reading and could read a book in an afternoon but now that I stitch I hardly ever read. 

5. I've had two jobs; one in a caravan and camping accessory shop and one in a china, glass and hardware shop. I'd love to work in a china shop again but scared I'd drop everything! 

6. I love blogging and reading blogs and I love receiving comments ( who doesn't!)

7. I adore Professor Snape ( Alan Rickman) in the Harry Potter  films. Always have done even when I thought he was the evil one!

I am not going to pass it on to anyone else as there are way too many to choose from but if I read and comment on your blog consider yourself a stylish blogger:)

February's Violets

I have another little finish today! This cute little stocking should have really have been finished last week and in the post but I was so wary of stitching it up. Don't get me wrong the instructions with the chart are brilliant but it's just me when I come to making up a new shape and stuff. Anyway I decided to do a beaded edge on it and I am quite happy with how it looks.

I just have a couple of WIP pics to show now. I do have another finish but it was dark by the time I finished it so I couldn't get a decent picture so will save that for another post. Friday and Saturday, as usual, were spent stitching on Shores. I decided I'd had enough of the white so filled in some of the colour. I do like the look of this block and am really looking forward to stitching more on it this week.

I am very close to finishing BRD Peppermint Twist so am going to stitch on it tomorrow to try and get it finished. I have done a little bit more since I took this piccie.

I am thinking of maybe starting Just a Thought Sampler Garden Casket next to replace Peppermint Twist on a Sunday evening and Barb, Hazel and I are hopefully starting The Sampler Girl At Home with Jane Austen on 9th April and I'm really looking forward to that. I am enjoying my stitching so much these days:)

I have received this lovely sunshine award from Claire Thank you so much Claire :) I am supposed to pass this award on to 12 bloggers but I am going to be very naughty and not do that but will say that it's for all the bloggers out there who I visit as there are so many wonderful, inspiring bloggers out there.

A Roll for March

Another small finish, this time my Shepherd's Bush roll for March. You may remember Chris and I did a SAL last year and decided to keep going this year. I hope you will not be fed-up of seeing this one as this is the 4th time I've stitched it but it will now be the last! Lol! This one is for my collection this time :) I did not have any heart charms left so I added a butterfly charm instead and it's also a little thinner as I somehow I managed to cut my fabric too small ( oooops!) but it looks OK thankfully!

I've been getting along quite nicely with my WIPs and, for once, CHS Shores went without a hitch this time. That means no frogging!!! Yay! No frogging makes Sally a happy stitcher!! Lol! I reckon this block may take me a while but having seen Nicki's almost finished will spur me on as it's such a pretty block.

Next up was Sunday ( Mother's Day) and a semi- lazy day sat with my lovely two girls was spent stitching. The girls had bought Final Fantasy XIII between them so spent their time taking it in turns to play that until Jess went back to uni! So BRD Peppermint Twist is quite close to being finished and I just LOVE it! I love the colours and everything about this piece. This was my December SAL with Chris ( we've already decided on our next December SAL!!!) and she finished hers ages ago but I'm afraid I'm lagging behind!

Another piece I am hoping to finish very soon ( can I do it for the end of March???) is Just Nan 4 Wishes. This is another one I absolutely love and for all I struggle a bit with the linen and have had to frog the border more times than I care to remember I enjoy stitching it. It's such a fresh, bright, cheerful design and it makes me smile everytime I look at it.

Finally two small WIPs that I have recently started. Lisa and I decided to SAL with Just Nan Winter Hearts Humbug and once we got all our supplies together we decided to start yesterday so after tea I sat and made a start. Unfortunately the picture does not show what a pretty piece this is. I love the colours and the sparkly fabby just adds to it. I think I'll be stitching more on this tonight.

Last week I made a start on one of the stockings from Blackbird Designs Love is in the Air. This one is February Violets and it's so pretty. I need to get this finished soon as it's for a gift but I'm safe to show it as the lady doesn't read my blog!

This is going to very difficult to write 10 things about myself as I'm an incredibly boring person but I'll give it a go! Lol

1. I have never been out of the UK but would dearly love to one day.
2. The place I would love to visit the most is Canada closely followed by New Zealand.
3. I never wanted children but am so glad I changed my mind.
4. I have a thing about angels and believe we all have one looking out for us.
5. In between having my two daughters I had a miscarriage ( although medical staff said it couldn't be termed as one) due to a blighted ovum.
6. I actually prefer being at home to going away somewhere, although I do enjoy it once we are away but it's always nice to come home.
7. This one you probably already know but I like to try and stitch every day even if it's only for half an hour. It's my way of relaxing.
8. I absolutely love listening to music. When everyone else is out I always have music on. At the moment I'm listening to Pixie Lott.
9. I love the Terry Pratchet novel The Hogfather from the Discworld series. I have the DVD although I'm yet to sit and watch it as it disappeared into Abi's bedroom when it arrived and I've not seen it since!
10. If I live to be 100 I will still probably not stitch everything I have in my stash!

Phew! Now to the even more difficult bit and that's passing the award on to 10 others as there are so many wonderful ladies out there. Anyway here goes.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!! It's dull and muggy here on the east coast of England and it keeps raining every so often. How typical for Easter! Lol! I hope you have some nice Easter eggs:) I haven't got a single egg this year! LOL! I am not really complaining though as DH's auntie asked what sort I would like and I declined as I really need to loose to some weight and if there's an egg there I'll just want to eat it all at once!

I don't have much stitching to show today. Monday evening I should have stitched on Bea but it didn't happen as I just couldn't be bothered to pick her up so I opted for the PIF I've been stitching. That is now finished barring the making up and I hope to get that done over the next few days depending on what we are doing. Wednesday we'd been out at Sheffield Meadowhall and didn't get home until about 7pm so by the time we'd had something to eat and got settled down I couldn't be bothered to stitch. Last night I did manage a bit of stitching on HAED QS Girly Gothic. Not as much as I'd have liked but DH and I had been out in the afternoon ( Abi was at her friend's and Jess stayed home to revise) and didn't get in until nearly 7pm ( more about that another day). So here's my little bit of progress on QS Girly Gothic. Hopefully next week I'll get more done:)
I have done a bit more on Just Nan When Barnabee Met Bella and I just love how this is coming along. I think I shall stitch more on this tonight.
Yesterday I received this lovely chart from the lovely Barb ( no blog). Barb stitched this recently and offered the chart on the Stitch and Stash forum and I had no idea that she was sending it to me until it arrived:) Thank you so much Barb. I have been eying this one up since it came out but as I'm on a no chart stash thing until at least November I resisted buying it. I'm hoping to stitch it soon then I promised Barb I would pass it on to Su.


Nothing else to report other than I have to wait until next week to find out my scan results etc. They are back but the doctor I want to see is off until next week so I have to ring on the day as they had no pre-bookable appointments. Grrrrrrrrrr!

Onto some stitching now. First up is lovely little Beatrix Potter! I am really enjoying stitching this but I have to concentrate really hard as I don't want a visit from that slimy green thing! This week I finished up the motif with the bird then moved onto the motif at the bottom. I am very happy with my progress on this for this week.

On Tuesday I decided to start my needleroll for this month for the SAL with Chris and chose Easter Egg Roll. This was so nice and quick to stitch and it's all finished up and on display. Unfortunately it wasn't until I was so far through stitching it that I realised there was something missing from my kit so the ribbon isn't the colour it should be as I had to use some I had in my stash. Needless to say I went to look at my other needleroll kits to make sure they had ribbon in them ( which they did) and I emailed JJ's to let them know that it was missing.

Wednesday evening is my HAED SAL night with Lisa and I have also joined the fantastic HAED SAL blog which Cindy F and Wendy have set up so that I plenty of motivation from the ladies there to keep on stitching on QS Girly Gothic and, hopefully, finish her this year! Wednesday evening I just didn't want to put her down so I decided to stitch on her last night as well and I am so pleased I did! Next Wednesday should see that page finished then I only have two more to stitch! Before I forget I have a few charts for sale over in my Wish List and Stuff for Sale blog if anyone would like to have a look. I am trying to save up for a Shepherd's Bush kit (Family Sampler) so will keep adding to the list as and when I finish with charts. Charts are either gently used or new and postage will be extra.

Has It Been A Week?

Well it has been just over a week since my last blog post so I thought it was time I gathered all my piccies together and wrote!

You may remember a few weeks ago Barb (no blog) sent me a couple of Shepherd's Bush roll charts and a lovely little SB kit. As her birthday was coming up I decided to stitch her a little something as way of a thank you and birthday gift. As she rather likes SB I chose a little freebie design which also appeared in Classic Stitches magazine. I didn't have a leaping sheep charm so I just stitched a sheep where that should be.

I have made a start on my biscornu for February but there have been a couple of evenings where I just haven't wanted to stitch, as I've either felt too tired or just not had the enthusiasm, so I haven't finished the stitching yet. It's a good job there's still about 10 days left in the month as I'd also like to get a PIF stitched!

I have finished up stitching my Feb ornament for the Christmas ornament SAL. This isn't the original design I chose as when this arrived with my Loose Feathers order from Drema I just had to start it. It was such fun to stitch!

For the HAED SAL with Lisa and Claire last Wednesday Quick Stitch Girly Gothic came out. Now she hasn't seen the light of day since May last year. I did enjoy getting back to her and I'm determined to stick with her this time until she's finished.

Sunday was my evening for stitching on BBD Beyond My Heart. I finished the verse and moved onto the flowers. I think these are going to take a few Sundays stitching as there seems a lot to stitch there. This picture is a bit dull so the verse is difficult to see. I have been thinking a lot about whether I am going to stitch the next design and the mystery and have decided I will stitch the next one (but not the last one!) but I'm not going to do the whole of the mystery. I think I may just do the part that is with the Keepsake Box.

Next up is my progress from Monday evening on the Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler. No frogs this week thank God!

That's all my stitchy progress caught up on! Now I have had two wonderful surprises this week as I have won Lizzy's blogoversary contest and also Lesley's birthday contest so I have been very lucky. I can't believe that I have won two in a week so thank you so much Lizzy and Lesley. I look forward to receiving my goodies and will be sure to show you when I do.

I think that's all from me for today. I don't think I've forgotten anything but I might have done! DH and I are going to be alone for the afternoon and so much of the evening tomorrow as Jess is going out with friends then back to one friend's house to stay over. Abi is going to her friend's house so we'll probably have an afternoon out together. I have a follow-up appointment with the ENT specialist in the morning so that'll be fun- NOT!

I'm afraid I am way behind on my blog reading as with Dh being off and it being half term I've not had time plus this morning I was going to catch up and I got so far through this post and had to save it because I had a flashing in my eyes. It's been very annoying as I've thought it had gone then it's appeared again. Grrrr. I think it's gone now but I'm having another break from stitching tonight. I will try and get caught up with you all soon as I really miss seeing what you've all been stitching.

Another Finish!

I think I am on a bit of a roll but it won't last! Having said that I am more determined this year not to have too many BAPs on the go so that I can get some smaller bits stitched.

Anyway this finish is my first biscornu for the Basket of Biscornu SAL. It was quick and lovely to stitch and I love how it looks.

Next up is my progress from Sunday on BBD Beyond My Heart. I'm not sure about the thread colour for the wording although it does show up better IRL. The last Loose Feathers chart from the 2008 series is coming soon to Needlecraft Corner and it sounds as though it could be a Valentine type design. I have to admit that I am quite disappointed that they haven't done a Wintry/ Christmassy design like they have other years. Although I have enjoyed the designs I don't actually think that some of them have been as nice as other years but it's a chance you take.

Monday evening was my BP night and I managed to get a fair bit done. I did have a visit from the frog and stupidly made damn near the same mistake twice! After next Monday's progress I'll post to the BP SAL blog as that will be my final progress pic for January.

Wednesday is SAL night with Lisa and Claire was maybe going to join us too. The end is in site on my TT Sampler Letter J as I have finished page 3 and made a start on page 4 so I am very happy. It won't be long before QS Girly Gothic can come out to play and I am determined to stitch her until she's finished and not get waylaid by something else!

So that's my stitching for this week so far. I've made a start on my Christmas ornament for the Christmas Ornament SAL and it shouldn't take too long to stitch up.Chris gave me the Your Blog is Fabulous award which is my first award of 2009 and I am really pleased:) I have to list my 5 addictions and also nominate 5 bloggers so here goes:)

Not a Lot of Stitching!

Not a lot of stitching has been done this week so there's not a lot to show! Up until last night I hadn't stitched since Sunday so there's no Quaker Christmas, Sea Stars or Letter J this week but there is Blackbird Designs Rites of Spring:) So here's my update on that from Sunday. I would have got more stitched but froggy came for a visit and I had to rip some out!

I did not feel much like stitching until last night when I stitched on my small new start which is Shepherd's Bush Shepherd's Roll which came as a kit so no sorting fabby and threads and an immediate start! This is where I'm up to so far.

We've had a few trips out this week. Tuesday afternoon we went to McCann's Wildlife Trust inbetween Atwick and Skipsea and took Abi's friend with us. We last went not long after it had opened about 7 years ago and what a huge difference. It's a lovely walk round; very quiet and peaceful. All the trees and fauna are well grown up and the lake and pond well established. Wednesday we went to The Deep in Hull which is a great place to visit. There were some new exhibits which is always good to see as it keeps your interest up. We got some really good pics so I'll share some another time. Yesterday we went to Junction 32 at Castleford for a bit of retail therapy. There are some great bargains to be had here and Jess and I bought some boots in Clarks, Abi bought a couple of games and some bits in Claire's Accessories and Carl bought a jacket. I bought Abi some new trainers which are just fantastic! They are Babycham ones and are so cool that I really wish I'd bought myself some but I thought I might be too old for them! Lol! Today we went to Beverley and took Abi's friend with us. I think I need a rest tomorrow!

Wednesday I went to the doctor's as my face/ jaw was swollen yet again and I was in a bit of pain with it too. I decided to see a different doctor this time and see if I could get some answers as to what is causing it. Anyway he decided to refer me to an ENT specialist as he thinks it could be a blockage in my saliva glands so we shall see what happens when I see the specialist. Thankfully I will be able to see him at the local hospital rather than at one of the hospitals in Hull.

I received the latest BBD Loose Feathers from Needlecraft Corner on Tuesday and it's gorgeous. I haven't been disappointed in one yet! I also bought Twisted Oaks Designs Merry Noel Collection of Stitching Smalls as it was half price then had a further 28% off in their 28th anniversary sale so it was a real bargain. It had the Dinky Dye silks with it as well as a pair of scissors.

I truly cannot believe that I have now received this award 4 times and it means the world to me:) I know I am supposed to pass this award on to 7 blogs but as always this is being passed on to everyone who reads my blog:)

It's the Weekend!

Well it's been nearly a week since I last posted! We have been so busy this week with the decorating and we are still not finished yet! We're on the home stretch though. Only a bit of emulsioning to do now. Phew! I must admit DH and I have had enough. It would have taken a lot longer but the girls have been really good helping out with painting.

So what I have been stitching once we've settled down after tea? Well I it's pretty much the same as my last post I'm afraid! Sunday was Blackbird Designs Rites of Spring and it's going so well! I just love this piece and how quickly it stitches up. I'm hoping for a good evening on it tomorrow so that I can get it finished soon and start the next one seen as number 4 for this year is now out and on it's way to me from Needlecraft Corner:)

Monday it was time for Bygone Stitches A Quaker Christmas and another motif down several to go! Still I think I am on track for a finish in time for Christmas and I have a place all ready for it to be hung!

Tuesday was Ink Circles Sea Stars, my SAL with Karen and I made good progress on that HUGE motif! I think I shall be tired of stitching on this one by the time I'm done but I have to say I love the effect.

Finally it's my progres on HAED TT Letter J. Not a lot done this week but not to worry. I can soon get caught up to where I would like to be- I hope!

I have decided ( like KarenV a while ago) it's time to get my chart stash down and not buy anymore for a while. I have tried this before and failed most of the time BUT I need to be really strong and just get on with it. I do have a couple of charts to come and, of course, there's two more BBD Loose Feathers for this year that I will be buying but that will be it. I am quite ashamed really of the amount of charts that I have ( around 50 charts and 3 kits plus 4 HAED charts that are a must stitch) so I really have no need to buy more. So I have decided to set myself a project challenge although I have not decided on the amount of projects as yet. Either 10 or 15 to begin with I think then see how I feel after that.

Unfortunately Jess hasn't been successful with her job interviews so far. She really wanted the one at the local Co-op so was really disappointed when she didn't get it.

Time I went and got out of my decorating clothes and into some clean ones ( silly devil me brushed the wall with my butt when I'd just painted it!) and settle down for a bit of stitching. I've had a small new start!
