It has been the week for new starts this week and I don't feel guilty at all! Lol! As I said in my last post Barb and I are putting our SB SAL on hold for a bit to stitch The Primitive Hare Christmas Carol Sock. I am stitching mine on 35 count superfine linen ( from Sew and So) which I have teadyed. I have to admit that I was in a panic as it took me a while to adjust to stitching on that count fabric and I was thinking what if my eyes are getting weaker and I can't stitch on it anymore:( Anyway once I got going it was fine and here is my progress. I have started in the middle so that I get it placed right on my fabric so this is the roof of Scrooge's house and it's a huge house so may take a while to stitch! Please excuse my bad photos today but it was rather dull when I took them.
My second new start of the week wasn't supposed to be started for a week or two yet but both Lisa and I were rather eager and I can stitch up the needlecase for LHN Travelling Stitcher anytime. So last night we made a start on Lizzie* Kate 6 Fat Men and here is my start. I'm stitching this on the recommended 32 count Amber linen but it's so stiff which makes it quite difficult to handle. Again I seemed to struggle to see it until I got going so I am now wondering if it's because they're linen rather than evenweave or maybe I just need my eyes testing! Having said that I'm fine stitching over one on 25 count and I can see evenweave fine.
On Tuesday I took Tra La La Duo Noel to craft club and lo and behold my poor bodyless sheep from the week before is now sporting a rather nifty looking body! I didn't get a great deal done in the 2 hours and I have to admit the way I was feeling I was close to getting up and coming home after half an hour.
The only other progress I have is on Drawn Thread The Sanctuary. These trees are going so much faster than I thought they would and I am now thinking of putting HAED Guardian on hold ( Not again I hear you say but I really think I'm just not a HAED stitcher anymore, at least not on a BAP) and concentrating on this for two evenings a week to get it finished ( so Barb and I can start TSG Glad Tidings with Jane Austen).
I am getting into Christmas/ Winter stitching now and Lesleyanne and I are going to SAL on Little House Needleworks Winter Band Sampler soon which I am looking forward to :) I got my chart out of my box and I'd already sorted some fabby when I was sorting it all out the other week. I just need to dye it:)
Don't forget there's still time to have a go at becoming part of the sisterhood of the travelling pattern in my previous post. It's open until Sunday but if there's no more interest ( I honestly thought there would have been more) I might choose a name earlier.
Thank you for visiting me and for all your wonderful comments. I appreciate them and your friendships :)
Lots of love and hugs
Sally

Awww Sally. My ds is sat here with me whilst I peruse blogs and I said, "What is that?" pointing to your Tra la la sheep and he answered, "Sheep! With eight slippers on!". Too cute. x
Wonderful stitching! I love your tralala sheep and the start on the Fat Men!!! I understand about the HAED project. I think our interests change over time, but it might look interesting again in the future... you never know! : ) Your DT piece is lovelier and lovelier. Can't wait to see it completed! Have a wonderful week! Hugs!
PS - At first glance I thought you were stitching a stocking for Scrooge! LOL!!
((Sally)) Everything looks wonderful! You're absolutely right NOT to feel guilty for your starts (mainly 'cause I love watching your progress) and I bet you'll have them finished in no time. :)
You go - all the WIP will keep you busy as a bee! They're all adorable!
Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas..... :))))))
Lovely stitching Sally. I do love the Tra La La Noel Duo - its so pretty and colourful xx
I love the start on the stocking, its a design I loved when I first saw it. Your Sanctuary looks like its close to a finish.
Never feel guilty about starts!
Guilty!! what's that???
LOL Hazel's comment made me laugh so I had to go look at the eight slippers!!
Fabulous progresses!!
Love your new starts, and your WIPs. Can't wait to see that DT finish!
Great starts Sally, i love to start new things i have many on the go at the moment.
Beautiful stitching as always, Sally! I just love your Tralala sheeo! I am eager to follow your Christmas/winter stitching because I am getting in that mode myself. It probably has something to do with the rain coming down sideways and the gale force winds we've had today! LOL It just makes me want to dive under a blanket.
Try wadding up the amber linen into a ball and squashing it between your hands a bunch of times. I find I have to do that to anything that is on a Wichelt based linen. It helps to take the stiffness out. The linen I'm using for Jane Tindall was like a piece of cardboard until I got going on it, and now it's super soft. I am sure your eyes will adjust as you go along on both pieces! This getting older thing is for the birds. :P ;)
I understand about the HAED. Our tastes change, and that's okay. you can always go back to it at some point. Stitching is meant to be fun, so work on what is making you happy at that moment in time!
That Drawn thread piece is just oh so lovely!
Two great new starts Sally. I love the L*K Snowmen. Lovely progress on DT. Look forward to our SAL.
Ooh--that Christmas Carol sock looks like a fun stitch, Sally. I hadn't seen it before so I googled it...will enjoy following your progress on this one!
Yes, yes, finish Sanctuary--can't wait to see the entire piece. Perhaps it will motivate me to get started :)

cucki xx
New starts are just so much fun, aren't they? You chose some wonderful designs and I will enjoy watching your progress.
That TraLaLa piece is soooo cute!
Great stitching Sally, I just love the little Tralala sheep!
I find I can't stitch on fine count fabrics in the mornings, my eyes seem to need a couple of hours to wake up and fine tune their focus if that makes sense
Sally oh the roof is on and Scrooge is probably fretting about the cost right now! I shall get you an update in a couple of days as I still have not managed time to do anymore since the little I did on Monday, cleaning and cooking for two houses aint funny .
Love the Tra-La-La piece and The Drawn Thread is lovely and almost there.
I have to admit to doing what Rachel did and after reading Hazels comment I thought I must go see ,children come out with such great comments dont they.
It made me smile too.
Speak soon .
I love Tralala! The sheep is too cute and the colors are great!
I always stitch off season. I'm not sure why. I'm hoping that your holiday stitching posts will inspire me to finish an ornament that probably needs only an hours work on it!
I admire anyone who can stitch a HAED. All that confetti stitching would drive me bonkers.
You've been busy Sally! Great new starts - I particularly like the Tra la la design on that fabric, it really makes the colours pop.
Love new starts, so much fun! Looking forward to your progress!
I am not a HAED fan, understand your feeling!
Hugs,
Your WIP's look great!! I love the sheep design and I'm glad he has a body now!!
Very nice stitches!!
Everything is very nice, as always, Sally! I can't believe how Sanctuary is coming along. You're nearing the finish line, for sure! It has been lovely to watch.
There is an employeed at my LNS who is doing the series of LK fat men all on one piece of fabric, and has the first 3 on now, and it's just darling! There is a chart, I think, that has dividers and borders for all six designs. Cute little guys!
You've got some lovely projects on the go there!
Really going to enjoy watching your stocking grow, such a lovely chart.
