The House That Sally Built......

Is looking rather splendid even if I do say so myself! Last night was LHN SAL night with Lisa and Lesleyanne and I finally got all the windows in and the door so the house will be nice and snug for Belle to go into! I love this piece so much and I enjoy stitching on it each Wednesday.

Monday was SB SAL night with Barb and Colleen and an enjoyable evening stitching in spirit with another two lovely ladies. My piece, Emmanuel's Song, is growing rather nicely and is so much fun to stitch.

I have been stitching on Blue Ribbon Designs Stitched with Love but forgot to take a photo of it so I'll show that next time providing I remember of course! Also had another little finish but I can't show that until it's been received.

I have decided that I'm not going to do the Jardin Prive SAL after all. I'm just pleased I thought about it long and hard. It is a beautiful piece but there are so many other things that I would rather stitch.

I mentioned a wee while ago that I had been one of four lucky ladies picked on Becky's blog to receive a stash goody bag from her and just look at what arrived for me on Tuesday! Becky is such a kind hearted, generous lady:) I love everything here! I do already have the BBD chart and the MND one and Becky said I could pass then on so I've passed the MND onto Lisa and if anyone of my regular commenters would like  BBD AotH A Wish for You please mention it in your comment. Thank you so much for your kindness Becky {{{{hugs}}}}

I am patiently impatiently waiting for my BBD A Stitcher's Journey to arrive as I can't hardly wait to get little hands on it and look through it! I think it was shipped over a week ago so, hopefully, it'll be here soon.

I was so sad to hear of the tragic death of Lisa of The Primitive Needle. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. It really does make you realise just how fragile life is. There is a Spooky SAL that has been set up on Facebook to stitch something in tribute to her and although I have never stitched one of her designs or own any I thought it would be nice to join in and I went through my freebies and found two of Lisa's and am going to stitch one of those so I am either doing Wicked or By the Light of the Moon.

We had some good news from Jess on Tuesday but with the good news comes the bad :( The good news is that she has been accepted for the English and Creative Writing course from September at the same university she is at now. She has just rung with the bad news which is that because she's already had a student loan for tuition fees for the almost two years she has already done student finance will only give her a further two years loan and the course she's going to is three years. Plus it's  not the final year she will have to pay herself. Oh no she has to find £3,375 for the year 2011/2012! More to damned well worry about! She does have some savings, although I'm not sure she has enough, but that will mean that everything she has saved will have gone. I don't think she's really thought it through. Also she won't get a grant for living until she's done the first year which means won't have as much to live on. There is no way we can help her so God only knows how she'll manage and I fear that she's going to end up having to drop out. I am just so sick of the worry with everything. And yesterday DH's auntie was admitted to hospital. Thankfully it is not as serious as we first thought it might be and is a stomach bug. If all goes well she should be allowed home today.

Well I had better go. I feel as though all I do is moan lol Just don't know how much more I can take:(

Take care everyone.

Hugs

Sally

Sally Belle P and ES are comming along great :-)

It's so expensive to go to Uni now, my eldest daughter lived at home and travelled it so finance was OK, my middle daughter insisted on living away (even though she could have travelled) and got into a mess with money, we lost the deposit of £2oo on Halls and she went over drawn the first week there!! My youngest will be looking at Uni's later thins year i dread it, lol.

Take care x

Belle's house is beautiful, and Emmanuel's song is just stunning.
I hope things work out with Jess. Actually its probably better in the long run that its next years fees she has to find, if it was either of the years after that it would be a lot more money

Your stitching is looking lovely Sally, I really like that LHN design.
Try not to worry too much about Jess, hopefully it will work out OK.
That was a lovely giveaway win, well done.

I think it will work out with Jess too and to be honest, it's better that she study something she loves and enjoys even though it will cost a lot of money. I spent loads on uni and have a degree I don't even use and it's because my parents pushes a particular degree on me. See if there are grant opportunities or work study programs that might help her with the fees. I paid a part and then had grants and loans for the remainder.

Wonderful stitching and congrats on the stash haul from Becky!

Two lovely projects in the works.
I really love Belle Pepper.
What a generous gift from Becky. That must have made your day.
Try not to worry about your daughter.
Everything has a way of working out in the end. At least that's what I always tell myself.

Your Belle Pepper is looking great and so is your SB. Such nice pieces.

Nice gifts from Becky. She is a truly generous person.

Have a good weekend.

Belle is lovely & your house is super! Emmanuel is so pretty with SB color palette. Nice stash you received.
Sally, remember, Jess made this decision. Maybe she didn't research the course change as much as she should have, but she will need to find a way to work this out. No parent wants to see their children unhappy & in a dilema like Jess' but, she can learn something through this experience and use it through her adult life. You will always be there for her, but you cannot do it for her. Like Gillie says, it will work out; can't worry yourself sick. Hugs my dear friend.

Congratulations on Belle Pepper, Sally--it really looks wonderful. And what a nice group of charts, fabric and floss from Becky. I was lucky enough to get a package from her, too--she is such a generous stitcher, isn't she?

I do hope things work out for Jess--we have now paid the final tuition bill for the last of our sons. What a relief...

Your wips look great! Uni education is so expensive now. Things will work out, don't worry too much.

Hugs to you and keep stitching!

Lovely progress on both projects!

Let the worry about expenses fall on your daughters shoulders. It's a good chance for her to begin to make decisions with the realization that there is a sacrifice to be made as well (like not having savings). It's really important that she pursue something she's interested in but that doesn't mean she also should not have to take care of some of the grown up things that go with it. You never know, it might be the best experience for everyone!

This is always something to worry us...let's hope for the best, maybe something will turn up and things will be okay....wonderful package you received...

Your stitches look great! Like others, I'm sure all will work out with Jess. Valerie had some great suggestions - work study and grants. I cna't even begin to imagine how much my boys will need when it is their time!

Your stitching is absolutely gorgeous!! What a great giveaway Becky sent - lots of good things to stitch. I am sorry for the stress Jess is putting on you, but hopefully, she will find a way. One thing, if she is willing to go through so much to take this course, you know she will have great motivation to do well in her classwork!!

Super parcel from Becky, congrats on the win.

It's hard being a mum isn't it and to stand by and watch them, make their own mistakes

Poor Jess! I know how stressful it is to try to find money for school. Has she tried to apply for every single scholarship she can? I don't know how they do it in the UK, but there are some off the wall scholarships available here and here - some are never even given out because no one applies for them. If she can get online and start looking, she may be able to cobble together some funds.
