First New Start For Feb

It could be the start of a few; who knows!!! Lol! Lisa and I decided a while ago that we'd have a Little House Needleworks SAL ( well a few LHN SALs actually) this year so yesterday I started Be Merry- Belle Pepper and she started Winter Band Sampler and then we are going to swap charts and do another! I have to say that neither of us could wait to start but we were both very patient and waited until the day we said we'd start. Here's my first evenings stitching on Belle which I well and truly enjoyed. I'm stitching her on 32 count vintage country mocha linen using a mixture of CC, DMC and Carrie's. She is going away now until next week as I have other things I need to get on with but I can hardly wait to pick her up again.

Monday evening was my SB SAL night with Barb and Colleen but as we had to fetch my Dad home from hospital and get him settled I didn't get too much done. However I am loving this piece and look forward to Monday evenings stitching on this.

My wedding anniversary sampler is going rather slow and I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon and make a slot for it one evening a week as I just don't seem to be able to find the time to pick it up much in an afternoon. This is my little progress on Blue Ribbon Designs Stitched With Love :)

My 3 months on the stash wagon are now over :) So I'm going to have a wee treat in the JJ's Superbowl Sale this weekend, then see what comes out at market ( already know one thing I would LOVE but it depends on how much it is. I may have to wait until Christmas as it's the new BBD booklet), and if there's anything I simply can't live without then it'll be stitching from my stash for a while! I think the idea I had before of having a treat once I've stitched so many charts is perhaps a good one:)

That's all my stitchy news for now. I need to get caught up on blogs if I can today and also need to order some material and trims to finish LHN Poinsettia House!

My Dad came home Monday evening but is very unsteady, then Tuesday morning I had to get him out of bed as he couldn't get up, then couldn't get his trousers on, couldn't remember where he'd left his shoes or his false teeth. I just don't know how long he can actually carry on at home. I had a word with occupational therapy about him not being able to get up , and they discussed it with the district nurse and intermediate care and they have decided that, for now, he needs a hospital bed at home! I am going to see my GP next week as I'm finding it hard to cope with everything at the moment, for all I am not his main carer as he has ones that go in, but it's opening up so many things with looking after my Mum in my teens etc, things I thought I'd dealt with and understood. My DH is encouraging me to go as he's worried about me. I thank God I have him as he's my rock and my girls too. My stitching saves my sanity too!

Well that's all from me for now. Sorry if my waffling puts you off visiting but it just helps sometimes to get things off my chest. I noticed my visitors/ comments had dropped off a bit but I do still keep it mainly a stitching blog as that is what it is supposed to be.

Take care everyone especially those of you in the US with all the snow. Stay safe.

Love and hugs

Sally

Hugs to you Sally! I'm in a similar boat but not so bad off that my parents need a live in. One is so forgetful and the other has mobility issues. It is frustrating. Get it off your chest. Hope things get sorted out and better.

Great progress on your wips. I am also checking out the BBD book too!

Waffle away Sally, its good to talk about things.
Great stitching, as usual. I dread weeks when you say you haven't got much done because your "not much" is usually far more than my "loads" ;D
As for the new BBD, treat yourself, three months on the stash wagon is long enough for anyone

Belle Pepper is such a sweet LHN design, Sally--I know yours will look wonderful!

It is so hard to care for aging parents, isn't it? Sending you hugs and my best thoughts--you're so lucky to have the support of your dear husband. I'm sure that means the world to you :)

I haven't commented in forever, but only because of time constraints. I always look forward to your blog whether you're talking stitching or not. Good luck with your Dad. It is so hard to see your strong father lose that strength. It is good that you have your support system and your stitching to get you through!

Lovely stitching, as always, Sally. I really love how the SB piece is turning out.

I hope things work out OK with your Dad and that your GP can help you feel a bit better. I say post what you like, it's your blog and if it helps, that's a good thing.

You can say whatever you want on your blog - it's yours to do as you wish!

I love seeing what projects you're working and these two are no exception!!

Sally,
You are a solid individual taking care of your dad and his needs. You hang in there and when you need to vent we are here for you. (((Hugs))).

I wish I could say my stitching is doing great but at this moment I have lost my stitching mojo. Do you know where it went?

I think Belle Pepper is a cute pattern and your doing a great job so far. I love how your using different flosses throughout.

The SB is coming along nicely.

The Wedding Anniversary is looking great.

Have fun with your stash buying. Let us know what you find.

Always love reading your blog whether it mentions stitching or not!

Mine is slightly lacking in the stitching department at the moment!

Good luck with getting the right sort of help with your dad.

{{{hugs}}} Sally - I hope you are able to get some help from your GP - I can only imagine how much stress you are going through right now!

Your new start looks wonderful. Would you mind if I join you in a LHN SAL at some point? I have a lot of LHN charts that I haven't started, and I would love to do a SAL.

Love your stitches! Especially Belle Pepper!

It's so hard caring for one's parents. Many of us have done that, are doing it, or will be doing this at some point. So, waffle away - we all need support and understanding at times like these!

Keep on waffling, we all need to get stuff of our chests sometimes, and it can be hard to do that with close family, sometimes you just need to let it all go. Your stitching is beautiful. I think you definitely deserve a treat!

Feel free to waffle to me anytime Sally, you need to get these things off your chest and if putting them into your blog helps then go for it.
I hope things get better soon, going to the GP is a good idea, let's hope they are helpful.
Lovely new start and well done on not falling off that stash wagon. You deserve a treat now!

Your blog is your blog and about who you are - a stitcher, a mother, daughter, wife etc!

Your stitching progress is lovely! Hope you find the perfect stash treat!

I really like both projects that you showed us today. You stitch so much more than I do, I love to watch your pieces develope.

I also am so glad that you are talking about your dad and the issues you are having. I look forward to updates on how he is doing, and keep hoping things get better. Know that you have a large group of folks sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!

I hope you manage to get things sorted with help for your dad soon.

I love BP, i keep looking at it on Sew and So and thinking should i buy?

Don't worry about waffling on, we all need to sometimes, if it helps why not. I think it must be a blog world thingy because i seem to have loads of page views but not many comments, perhaps sometime people just don't know what to say, as you can see i'm never stuck for words, lol. But i know what you mean, it's lovely to get feedback.

Take care x

Nice new starts. Hope you are able to get some help with Dad.

I think a lot of people are reading but not commenting on blogs

Your new starts are fantastic!

I don't know if this will make you feel better or not, but I don't mind your "waffling". Due to my disability I am often behind on reading blogs, so I don't comment as often as I would like but I do read the blogs. This is your blog and as such you can write whatever you wish to or feel a need to write. I will continue to read. I will keep you and your dad in my thoughts and prayers!

Love your new start and your WIP's are all looking good! Take care, I can appreciate what a stressful time you are going through. Enjoy buying some new stash.

CalamityJr said...

Don't apologize for sharing your feelings. I will keep you and your family, especially your Dad, in my prayers, and say a big thank you for your supportive husband!

I never think of you as waffling - hearing about your life makes you more "real". Being a caretaker, even if you aren't the primary person, is stressful and draining, not to mention the worry and guilt when you aren't with him. Be gentle with yourself. I heartily endorse the treat philosophy and I would say that you have earned a big one!

Sally,
I've never had more support in my life than I've had from my stitching friends. They've helped me more than even my own family and my family is great! I had to deal with the deaths of both parents already and it is so hard emotionally as well as physically sometimes and I didn't have nearly as much to sort through as it sounds like you are doing.

This blog may be for your love of stitching, but it is for you to be what you want it to be as well. If someone decides they don't want to read about how you are doing and support you, they don't have to. But based on the comments I've seen so far and the needleworkers I know personally, there are many more of us out there praying for you and staying caught up with how things are going than you might imagine. We might not post all the time, but you will still be in our thoughts and prayers!!!

Stay strong and keep up the wonderful stitching! (And I wish I could get half done in a week as you do and I don't have aging parents or children to take care of!!)

I say, congrats on the three months, and you deserve to have a bit of a splurge! All you WIPs are looking great. Hey, life is not all about stitching, even though it is a big part of ours, and it helps us deal with the other parts, as you know. Say what makes you feel better - others have advice sometimes that will help! And others, like me, offer positive thoughts for you and the family and big cyber-hugs!

A lovely new start! You are so disciplined with your SALs.

You have some lovely projects in the works Sally.
It sounds as though you have a lot on your plate. Having a parent go downhill is very hard to deal with.
It's good that you have your stitching to take your mind off things.
Hugs,
Margaret

Sally, I will always read your blog! I like that you are true and real about what's going on... everybody has down moments or days or weeks or months and if we can help by listening, well--that's what friends are for. I'm glad that you're going to the GP to see about things for yourself... it's hard being strong for others. Hang in there.

Lovely progress on your WIPs!

You made a lovely start on Belle Pepper, can't wait to see more after this week. I'm hoping WBS is going to grow on me the more I stitch lol, I'll let you know.
Great progress on your other wips as well.
