My Bee Charmer

Yes I am here yet again! Don't panic though as you probably won't see me again until the weekend or maybe even after that! Lol!

Yesterday afternoon I finished off Indigo Rose Bee Charmer. I have to say that I am so impressed with the way this kit was presented. The chart, stitch diagrams and finishing instructing were fantastic and I have the most beautiful finished piece anyone could wish for:) For once I even have near perfect tassels! Lol!

I stitched a bit on Ink Circles Sea Stars, my SAL with Karen, last night. I finished the motif I started last week, did three fish and started another motif:)

So, ladies, what is your take on the DMC Group crisis? By the way the statement that was issued yesterday reads there is going to be some restructering so I am hoping and praying that the needlework side of it will survive. What will we do without our beloved DMC threadsand what about the dyers out there who use it as a base? I can't make up my mind whether to stock up best I can or wait and see what happens. I do have some charts that are charted for both DMC and Anchor so if the worst comes to the worst I'll just get the Anchor for those.

Well time to go and catch up on blogs for a bit then get on with some of that H word!! Have a great Wednesday! The bad weather we've been expecting hasn't appeared although I know other parts of the country have had it.

Hugs

Your biscornu is beautiful Sally! Lovely progress on SS too :)

I'm not sure what to think about the DMC issue - luckily I have a full set and CarolS very kindly sent me a bunch of nice colours for my birthday so I have a good stock. I think at the minute I'm more worried about the implications for hand-dyed threads, particularly cost and availability. I guess time will tell...

SS looks wonderful.
Not to sure what to make of the DMC news yet,I will wait to see what happens.
Let's hope it doesn't spark a panic buy like with the petrol!!

Your Bee Charmer biscornu is beautiful Sally. As to the situation with DMC, I, for one, would be in trouble if I could no longer buy their threads. I have a couple (at least) of projects where I've been buying the threads as I need them. To ensure I have enough to finish them would involve a considerable outlay that I do not have right now. A good reason for just stitching one project at a time and for making sure I have all the thread needed before I start. Oh well we live and learn.

Your bee charmer is just that - Charming Sally, I love it.

DMC well - we will be in a mess wont we if it does go. Im not an anchor thread fan, but how do you stock up. There must be two or three hundred colours and you can guarantee if you are going to run out of something vital it will be one of those you have not stocked up on.

DOn't worry about it: if they don't make the DMC threads in France anymore, they will make them in China ...

LOVE your biscornu - it's beautiful!!

Well, the latest on the DMC front is that the needlework side won't be affected at all. In the worst case, there is Anchor and Madeira. DMC may be a firm favourite but it's certainly not the end of the industry if they stop manufacturing.

Never fear - we will manage to keep stitching come hell or high water! :D

The bee charmer biscornu turned out great. Well done!!

Seriously pretty biscornu Sally - love it. SS is really coming on now - so enjoy seeing the updates. :0)
From what I've read it's the other bits that are in serious problems, so if they can cut their losses there they should rescue the needlework side of things OK (fingers crossed!).
Rain, rain & more rain here - my garden path is full of waterlogged worms again >sigh<

Bee Charmer is fabulous! Congrats :)

We'll all be in a mess if DMC stops making thread won't we???

Bee Charmer is gorgeous Sally, and Sea Stars is looking absolutely wonderful!

I've decided not to worry too much about the whole DMC thing. I can't afford to stock up anyway, so if they go down I'll just convert to Anchor. Not a perfect solution, but better than nothing...que sera sera.

Hi! I read your blog and love your work!
I received this from the DMC in my email tonight...thought I would show it to you...
In recent days, there has been a significant amount of information in the form of press releases, media reports, etc. regarding financial difficulties and operational restructuring plans at the DMC corporate offices in France. Those activities and court filings within the legal system in France are directed towards seeking a formal resolution for two divisions within the DMC Corporation (Sportswear fabric and a small chain of retail stores found only in France) that are not related to the embroidery thread and craft activities, which remain the core business of the corporation.

In addition, the U.S. division of DMC operates as a separate legal and financial entity with its own financing, receivables, payables, etc, and as such, is not included in any legal filing or petitions to the courts that may occur in France.

We are financially secure and fully prepared to conduct business as usual here in the U.S.

DMC has been manufacturing needlework threads for 262 years and we remain committed to providing stitchers with the highest quality embroidery floss, specialty threads, needlework fabrics and other supplies they need to continue to enjoy the wonderful art of needlework. We look forward to continuing to serve all of our customers and loyal users of DMC products into the future.

You've been a busy little "bee" and everything looks so good!! Don't know what to do about the DMC thing, either. I guess wait and see...at least being plugged into the blogging community, I shouldn't be the last to know.

Awww that is sooo cute. As for the DMC Matter there was a statement from the US saying that the threads are hear to stay, which is great news as they are sep from the probs with DMC France.

What a gorgeous biscornu Sally.
As for DMC, we shall just have to wait and see I think. If it comes to the worst I'm an Anchor girl myself, but there are always Madeira and Finca/Presencia for those who don't care for Anchor

Your Bee Charmer Biscornu looks awesome. This one is so cute, and you did a great job on the finishing. I saw this kit when I took Catherine's class this past March at my stitching retreat, but didn't pick it up at the time. Glad to hear it was such a delight for you to stitch. Sea Stars is looking wonderful too, such fun colors and motifs.

As for the DMC issue, since they've said it is the other areas of the company, not the craft/floss area, that is having troubles I'm keeping my fingers crossed they get is straightend out and it doesn't spread to other parts of their companies. A lot of things you can work around, but I'd be in a world of trouble without my DMC.
