My Heart is Breaking

Just a quick post today. I may be missing for a wee while but I may not. My dear Dad passed away yesterday evening in hospital. I can't quite get my head round it and last night I just felt numb but it hit me this morning. He was just a few weeks short of his 84th birthday. My sister and her partner were with him but I'm afraid I could not bare to sit and watch him die. I hope he will understand that I needed to see my girls and hope he will forgive me. I said what I needed to before I left. It all happened so quickly.

    I'm so sorry for your loss hun; I lost my dad 7 years ago and sometimes it's still unreal to me he's gone...I'm sure your dad understands why you had to be with your girls..

    I can only imagine what this must be like but please try to stay strong and remember all the happy times you had together and the man he was :)

    Sally don't feel guilty for not being with your dad when he died. I'm afraid I did exactly the same thing when my mum died. We are all different and at times like this we have to deal with what is best for us.

    I'm very sorry Sally. I wasn't with my father either when he passed away although I had seen him a few weeks prior. I knew when I left him them to fly back home that it would likely be the last time. It is hard I know. There's something scary about losing a dad...you're kind of out there on the front lines without that feeling that you always have your dad to go to. :( hugs to you.

    Your Dad knows that you couldn't be there at that exact moment. He wouldn't have gone otherwise. You were there when it counted. He wouldn't have wanted to make it any harder for you than it already is.

    I'm so very sorry. Sally. Losing a parent shakes one's whole foundation. Your love for your dad is not lessened because you were not there at the end. You belonged with your girls and he would have understood that. May you remember all the loving times together.
