Put on Your Dancing Shoes........

and do the Happy Dance with me, albeit gently! Lol! After almost 4 ( yes 4) years the everso slightly dreaded Chatelaine Christmas Mystery IV is FINISHED!!!! Wahoooo!!! This is the piece that made me swear blind that I would never do another mystery again and at one point I didn't think I would ever finish it. Now don't get me wrong there are parts of this that I love but there are also parts of it that I hate and now it's finished I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with it! I don't feel that I can warrant spending pounds upon pounds to have it framed so does anyone have any suggestions? Lol! I do actually need to find my files for this and see whether I want to add any wording to the big ribbon at the bottom. I know there's something written on it but I can't see it clearly enough on my print out. Anyway enough of my waffling; time for some photos!

Chatelaine Christmas Mystery IV

32 count antique white evenweave

DMC

Delica beads

Crystals

Started 26th December 2006

Finished 3rd November 2010

Sunday evening I made a start on Little House Needleworks Frosty Flakes. I am loving this! The snowman is so damn cute!

Monday was Jane day with dear Barb and the Jane Austen Sampler Stocking. I think we are both on the verse which should stitch up quite quickly then it's the house! I do love this piece and can't wait for it to be on Jane wall. Even though it's a Christmas stocking it'll be staying up all year.

I am looking forward to my stitching for next year as I have a good few SALs and it's always so nice to stitch along with others as passionate about our hobby. I am now SAL-ing with Valerie on the BBD AotH so am really excited about that :) Joining Barb and I in the SB SAL are Colleen and possibly Julie and Colleen is also joining Lisa and I on the stash wagon lol! Laura is going to be joining Chris and I in our SB ornaments SAL :)

Right that's me for today! Off to post my finish on Stitch and Stash to keep Mr Stick happy!! Lol!

Have a great week everyone.

Hugs

Sally

FANTASMAGORICAL .... well done Sally, i really never thought this one would get finished after our conversations about the nutcracker LOL

BIG WELL DONE x

Could you just put some wadding into it and make it a bit like a table mat for the festive season?

It looks very pretty Sally. I wondered about this piece as I haven't seen it for a while. I go with the others on a table mat! x

Hi there Sally, Oh well done indeed on getting it done.
I think the Table mat is a good idea as that came to mind as soon as I saw it finished. ooohhh and brownie points from Mr Stick too!!
OOHH frosty flake is gorgeous , he may be next for me not sure , I thought you were doing Hes a flake .got totally confused there (doesnt take much.)
I will post a pic of my stocking tomorrow. I have got as far as think. I really do like this.
You like me have lots of things planned exciting isnt it.

Take care sweetie

You should be really proud of finishing the Christmas mystery! It's so sparkly. Is it too big for an accent pillow (put somewhere no one would actually lean against it of course)?

I should join you on the stash wagon, but I'm not sure I'm quite done after not buying anything in over a year. Maybe at the first of the year!

Loving how your Jane stocking is coming along too. I just love anything Jane though!

Congrats Sally! The Mystery Sampler looks wonderful! Look at all the bling. I was thinking a pillow for holiday decorating but a table mat sounds like a good idea too!

Isn't Frosty Flakes just too cute?! I may have to stitch him up soon. Each time I see him, he makes me smile!

I'm looking forward to our SAL! NOw to find fabric... :)

Congratulations on your finish. Love your progress on Jane and Frosty is gorgeous too.

Congratulations! I had the same "problem" with Christmas Mystery I...I was loving it until the next-to-last part, which contained a cherub (or "naked baby" as my stitch group started to call it) at the top. I finally altered the design and finished it, but it took a while! Table mat is a good idea; wall hanging might be nice, too. Easy to fold and put away.

Love the snowman. =)

Well done on finishing the mystery, I can't believe its four years.
Perhaps you could make a cushion from it?
Love the little snowman ornie

Gorgeous wonderful - bling filled (love them all those beads and crystals and pretties) finish :)
Pat yourself on the back for this beauty!

Your Frosty is looking fabulous! I love his rosy cheeks!

Chatelaine Christmas is fabulous Sally. It's made me want to start a larger project! I can see it as a cushion with a lovely red trim - very festive!

I remember when you started this piece and I'm sooo impressed you finished it!

Maybe you could stitch your name and date on the ribbon?

Stash wagon---is someone else on the stash wagon? I just took the plege to see if I can do from now until Dec 2011 working what I have! Help.
Beautiful work on the mystery---I'd be a pillow voter--love those pillows.

Gorgeous gorgeous stitching - thanks for sharing! Such a beautiful finish after such a short time!! Ha ha !! We all have some things that have been going on for a long time in our cupboards somewhere!!

Congrats on a huge achievement, especially when you haven't enjoyed many parts of it, that makes it an even bigger achievement! Perhaps a large pinkeep or flat-fold would work for it instead of framing?

Congratulations Sally - I can't believe it's been 4 years! Actually now that CCM IV is finished I quite like it. It's not nearly as cutesy as it looked when you were stitching the firdt parts of it. It would make a nice table centre - then you could cover up the parts that you don't like ..lol.
I would join you in a SAL but as usual I wouldn't be able to keep up..lol. Look forward to seeing yours though.

How BEAUTIFUL. Congrats on the finish.
On the wagon, I am. I stuck a note on the monitor screen...'Check the Stash, if all else fails email Sally!' Tempted by emails to purchase new designs and fabric.

Your snowman is a cutie.

Congrats on the finish! I agree it will look great on the table, a Christmas table centre.

Good for you for sticking with it, Sally. I think it would look very nice as a large pillow...

Love Mr. Frosty Flakes--he really is so sweet :)

Congratulations on your finish. It was very impressive that you continued working on it after you decided that you did not like it. You go girl!!

PS I think it is pretty. And does look like a LOT of work.

Wow! Good work Sally, it looks so pretty. Well worth the 4 years!!

It's so pretty, and unusual too. I'm with the wallhanging crowd, I think, though a table mat would look nice too. I can see why you would want your stocking to be up year round - it deserves the light of day all the time. I'm so glad the smear was fine and you won't have to endure another one for years.

And another great finish. Major congratulations on finishing one of the Chatelaine mysteries. I can totally relate to what you write about the stitching process. I also have one of these mysteries and it's become my oldest UFO. I can't even say when I stitched on it the last time.

Just saw a beautiful way to finish your mystery piece. Check out Karen's blog http://hayfieldcottage.blogspot.com/ With the right fabric and trim, you'd have a beautiful wall hanging.

Congratulations for hanging in there Sally! Your finish is beautiful.
I think it would make a great table topper or banner.
I love your stocking WIP and your latest Frosty Flakes finish too.
Sounds as though you have great things lined up for 2011. I look forward to seeing some lovely finishes next year.
