A Couple Of Finishes

Well I know it's been a while again and I am really sorry. I feel awful neglecting all my blogging and stitching friends. I've hardly been on a stitchy forum for months and I haven't read anyone's blog for ages and I apologise to everyone for that. I will get back into it soon I hope. I just seem to have lost my enthusiasm although I have been stitching a little and have a couple of finishes to show you.

The first one you have seen before but not in the actual made-up form. I must say th
at this took some making up! The times I had to unpick the lining as I hadn't got it quite right was ridiculous and I even threw it across the table because I could not get it to go right! Anyway here it is all finished up; I'm not 100% happy with it but for a first attempt it's not too bad I guess:)

The Sampler Girl

In The Garden With Jane Austen Stitching Bag

From The Gift of Stitching May 2008

And my other finish is a needleroll ( surprise surprise!). I love stitching these as they are so quick and easy although the medallion stitches took some getting used to and I know the first two or three are not quite right.

Shepherd's Bush Snow Fall Roll Kit.

And here's my progress on Needleprint Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler. I'm enjoying this again although I didn't stitch it on it this Monday.

That's all the stitching I have to show for now. Yes a measely little bit but better than non at all I guess. I'm currently working on another SB roll kit and that one is St Nicholas Roll which I have unpicked more times than I care to think about. I don't seem to be concentrating too well these days! Plus I have the urge for some Christmas ornament stitching after receiving the JCS Ornament issue from Down Sunshine Lane. Some gorgeous ornaments in there yet again:)

Jess has settled incredibly well in her halls of residence and she started her course on Monday. So far it seems to going well:) I have to admit we had our doubts that she would actually go as she was so nervous she was actually being sick. When we left her I managed to hold it together until we got back to the car. I cried on and off all the way home and when we got home and many times after that. I know people have said well she's not that far away but she's still away and not being able to see her, hug her etc really hurt. Poor Abi was heartbroken and sobbed so much. But we are steadily getting used to her not being here and she's made many new friends. She was very lucky as the halls have been refurbished so her room is all new and shiny:)

So that's all for this post. Not very interesting I'm afraid but I'll get there one day.

Take care everyone.

Hugs

Sally

Sally, you should feel really awful letting us hanging by a thread, lol, just kidding, my friend.
What two bautiful finishes you have there.
So glad to hear Jess settled in well. She will have fun and you will get use to her not being around and then it will be like heaven when she comes home to visit.

Oh, Sally, I feel for you with leaving Jess at school, and far away for the first time. She will be fine, and I know you know that, but it's so hard to have this first real "letting go." I hope your heart is comforted in the coming days. :[ Lovely stitching and finishing. I'm a huge fan of needlerolls, too. Hugs, Deb

I love the Jane Austen piece and how you have finished it. I'm glad Jess is settling in well, it takes a while for everyone to get used to new situations. I am dreading my two going away.... as it'll be both at the same time! My mom always says she cried all the way home when I went to college.... I know I'll be just as bad. But like the saying says "If you love them you have to let them go!"

Oddly enough, last night I looked through my old GOS magazines to find the chart for the bag (before I saw your blog entry). It's so neat to see it finished, and it looks beautiful, despite the troubles you had with the lining.

My son is only 9 and occasionally I look at him and think it's only another 9 years till he goes to college. It already makes me sad. So I can just imagine how hard it is for you. It's sweet that her sister misses her so much. I hope she enjoys being an only child now and then.

Your finishes are beautiful Sally, as is your progress on BP. Hope that Jess' course goes well and that the adjustment for your all becomes easier :)

(PS: if you find my blogging/commenting mojo whilst you're looking for yours, could you send it home please? ;) Mine seems to be on a round-the-world trip of late)

Oh silly, don't apologise for not blogging/commenting as often as you used to. We all go through these fases, and we're just happy to see you whenever you get the chance to pop around :o)

Very nice finishes & BP is looking great. Your measly amount of stitching is way more than I've managed up until recently! LOL :0)

Oh Sally! You have a partially empty nest:( I hope Jess is doing well in her new residence and you and family are adjusting as well. It's hard to let our babies grow up...lol!!
The stitching bag and needleroll are both amazing and so beautifully finished. You may have your doubts about your bag, but it looks perfect to me!
As far as blogging...or not blogging...I've gone through the same thing with my son moving 2200 miles away. I'm lost!! But slowly finding my way back....and you will too:) (Facebook has been a good distraction, but slowly weaning my way off that too;)
